Family mode is on from the start: only clean, all-ages jokes, everywhere on the site. Flip the switch at the top to open the mild and spicier shelves. We remember your choice on this device, so the kids' tablet stays kid-friendly.

October 2026

  • TheJokeDB opens with a hundred jokes you can tell at the dinner table, a browse page that deals one joke at a time, daily-shuffled topic and type pages, curated collections, and a search that understands “walks into a bar”.
  • Family mode is on by default: clean jokes only until you flip the switch; mild, crude and explicit sit behind it, each with a clear badge.
  • Every joke can be voted on. After you vote, the page tells you how the room took it.
  • Index pages list every topic, mood and type, with counts.
  • A public JSON API with single jokes, random, search and tags, free without a key.
  • Four interface languages: English, Spanish, French and Dutch. The jokes themselves are in English for now.
